Message From Our President
We are proud members of the Greensboro (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated! On October 22, 1955, 12 dedicated Greensboro women sought to strengthen their friendships while simultaneously engaging in community service during the Civil Rights Movement. From 12 members then to a membership of 58 in 2021-2022, we remain committed to the core values of the National organization.

Established in 1946, The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation. With more than 16,000 professional women of African descent as members, the organization is composed of 292 chapters across 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations. We are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Additionally, The Links has a long tradition of engaging in education, civic, and intercultural activities in the communities in which we serve.

More specifically, the Greensboro (NC) Chapter has a 66-year history of community engagement with local and area institutions. Over the years, our Chapter has partnered with such institutions as the following in response to their needs: Guilford County Schools, Cone Health, Greensboro Urban Ministries, including The Pathways Center, Bennett College, North Carolina A&T State University, Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina Central University, the Junior League of Greensboro, Hayes Taylor YMCA, and the Shirley T. Frye YWCA. We also support the international efforts of The Links, Incorporated, such as Linkages to Life. As members of the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, we advocate for and support such programs as Closing the Gap on Foster Care, Artist Noir, Connecting the Threads, One Mission One Love, LINKS in Pink, HeartLinks, Healthy Homestead, and the HBCU Initiative.
During the 2021-2023 biennium, we are honoring the past while moving forward in the 21st century. By doing so, we are continuing to unmask possibilities through the delivery of transformative programming to impact our community in unparalleled times.

Sincerely,
Jewell E. Cooper
